Abstract

Samarinda City has an area of 718 km2. The city is divided by the Mahakam River, including flood-prone categories. Dominant flooding in Samarinda caused by human activities that are less environmentally conscious in land use. Mistakes in managing the environment have caused flooding in Samarinda, especially along the Karang Mumus Sub-watershed, repeatedly causing substantial economic losses. By using the market value calculation method, an estimated economic loss will be experienced by the people who live along the banks of the Karang Mumus Sub-watershed. Samples were taken by purposive sampling of 20 respondents. The results of the study concluded that the estimated economic loss of the community on the reefs of Mumus was at least Rp. 4,444,160,000/week From the results of this calculation it is hoped that the Samarinda city government can develop environmental improvement policies and involve the community in flood mitigation the future.
