LITERATURE STUDY OF THE CONTENT OF SECONDARY METABOLITES OF EAST BORNEO LEDANG PLANTS (ARTOCARPUS LANCEIFOLIUS) AS ANTICITOTOXIC

The prevalence of cancer based on doctor's diagnosis is 2.06 per thousand cases in urban areas and 1.47 per thousand in rural areas (Riskesdas, 2018). In Indonesia, cervical cancer ranks second after breast cancer and continues to increase every year. The keledang plant (Artocarpus lanceifolius), a fruit native to Kalimantan, empirically contains phenolic secondary metabolites, especially flavonoids, which are used as medicinal ingredients due to their cytotoxic properties. Several prenylated flavonoid compounds contained in 23 types of artoindonesianin groups have been successfully isolated from keledang bark and wood (Bailly, 2021). The purpose of this literature study is to review the content of secondary metabolites and the bioactivity of the keledang plant in inhibiting cancer cell growth. Using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, articles both national and international that are indexed in Scopus and accredited by SINTA were reviewed using the PubMed, Google Scholar, and Researchgate platforms. The inclusion and exclusion criteria were based on the secondary metabolite compounds contained in the keledang plant (Artocarpus lanceifolius). The results of the study showed that the keledang plant (Artocarpus lanceifolius) contains prenylated flavonoid secondary metabolites that have anticytoxic activity through TG2 inhibition and apoptosis induction. However, the data is still very limited in terms of molecular data and preclinical testing because it is only based on empirical testing, so further research is needed to prove its anticytoxic activity.
